The Deserts of Egypt

Now that you've had a chance to look around Egypt a little, let's dig a little deeper. Where better to start digging than in the desert. Egypt is mostly made up of deserts including, the Sahara, the Western Desert, and the Eastern Desert. If you get tired of digging don't worry though, just ask your camel to take you to the nearest oasis for a little break.
No reservations required!

Sahara Desert

If you're not sure where to start, why not begin with the granddaddy of all deserts, The Sahara Desert. The Sahara Desert is the largest desert in the world. It is so large that there are actually other deserts within the borders of the Sahara Desert. In fact, the word Sahara is actually the plural of the Arabic word sahra, which means desert.

This map of the Saraha is a tool no explorer can do without!

Map of The Western Desert The Libyan Desert covers the entire western portion of Egypt. Because of this it is known locally as the Western Desert.

Map of The Great Sand Desert
Part of the Western Desert is known as the
Great Sand Sea.

see why the
Egyptians call it that.
