Accelerated Program Overview
The Accelerated Learning System is a scientifically designed learning system which allows children to learn at a pace that is tailor made for them. Both the math and reading programs provide methods for the children to work with, develop an understanding of the materials, and then accurately test what they have learned. These systems are designed to be used as both a learning enhancement tool for the students and as an assessment tool for the teachers. By using these systems in our classroom, learning is individualized and motivating for each and every student.
With the Accelerated Reading system, students can choose from thousands of books, at the appropriate reading levels, and read them at their own pace. After completing their chosen book, the students are independently tested to determine their skill levels and understanding of the material, which includes reading comprehension, and vocabulary levels.
The Accelerated Math system allows each student to work at their own level by providing a printed math work sheet designed for that child based on their past performance. This method permits the teacher to see exactly how the child arrives at an answer, thereby giving them the opportunity to assist the child exactly as is needed.
